Camping, Football, and the 2010 World Cup

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be in Durban, South Africa in June. Already the city is buzzing with excitement as people prepare for the biggest event in football. Venues are being built or renovated, hotels are booking rooms and filling to capacity, and fans everywhere are looking forward to some of the best matches football has to offer.

Hotel rooms and accommodations are reaching sky-high prices with most rooms now in the 900 Euro range and climbing. Unless you're willing to stay in some of the seedier parts of town, it's not likely you'll find an affordable stay in Durban during the World Cup.

Unless you decide to think outside the box and realize that the only thing that could make the greatest football in the world more exciting is camping with your friends at a place that, when you ad up the bonuses, is better than most hotels anyway.

How does ten minutes walk from the beach, three or four minutes from restaurants and local clubs, restrooms, meals, and a huge common room with a giant screen television sound?

That is what you can have for a fraction of the cost of a hotel stay during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Durban.

The campsites and facilities are located on two school campuses in the suburbs of Durban, but near enough to downtown to be only minutes from the stadium (with regular shuttle services available). These schools have plenty of campsite space, full facilities including swimming pools and an Ops Center, and more.

Most of our guests this year are finding that they can reserve their stay for the entire series of World Cup games at only a few days' cost compared to many hotels in the area.

A couple of minutes from pubs and restaurants, ten minutes from the beach, shuttles every hour to the stadium and Fan Parks, three meals served daily, full facilities, and a big screen TV in a large hall so you can enjoy the games even if you didn't get into the stadium.

This has got to be the best way to see the greatest event in football history. Make your trip to

the FIFA World Cup the greatest of all time! http://www.cheapworldcupaccommodation.com

The Soccer World Cup 2010 that will be held in South Africa between the 11th of June and 11th of July 2010 is fast approaching and there are 10 stadiums where the games will be held, namely:

• Green Point Stadium, Cape Town
• Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane
• Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria
• Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein
• Nelson Mandela Stadium, Port Elizabeth
• Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg

• Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban
• Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg

To enjoy the Soccer World Cup 2010 to its fullest, you have to find an accommodation near one of these stadiums or within any of the host cities.

You will find that there are plenty of luxurious and affordable accommodations in whatever host city you would prefer to stay in. There are still plenty of hotels and other types of accommodations available right now, but you have to be quick in making a reservation because the number grows slim daily.

It would be very expensive to go visit and check on the accommodation physically that you would wish to stay in, but if you have the budget to scout the best one, go for it. Checking online is your next best option. It will not only save you money, but also offer plenty of alternatives as well.

There are a number of accommodation sites for South Africa available online. But finding the best site is the difficult part. Many of the sites prices are too high and the accommodations are not that great. You should find a site that has a picture of the accommodation with reasonable prices and has information on the number of sleeps, rooms, description of the place, facilities, contact information, reservation information, etc.

Once you find the accommodation that suits your budget and standards, you will not only enjoy the Soccer World Cup 2010 games but you will also have the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of South Africa and many landmarks and stunning beaches that it has to offer.

So if you want to have accommodations in time for the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa visit http://www.searchaccommodationsouthafrica.com to find the best accommodation that would suit your taste and budget.

Here is a requested design for Egypt, the recent finished African Nations Cup winner. The design is the same as the one made for Italy. The home kit is red-white-black as the Egyptian national flag. The only change is the black features on sleeves and back of the shirt.
This second version of the home kit is useful for games vs teams in all white.

The away (second choice) kit is white-black-white.

Continuing with World Cup 2010 teams (must hurry because it's near, and I have a lot more teams to do) here is Uruguay. The base of design it's the one used for Italy and Egypt, the colours are standard for Uruguay, sky blue shirt with black short and socks.
A variant of the home kit with white short and socks (from the away kit), suitable for games vs Spain.

The team of Italy no need other presentation than the four stars on their crest, representing the four World Cup titles won so far, and this year they must defend the last title. This is my design for Italy, simple, as they use (excepting the sky blue and brown experience). It is based on different shades of blue (panels and stiches) and a touch of gold on trims, numbers, name and puma logos.
Against teams wearing all white, Italy use to play in similar version as this one, all blue.
The away kit, or the second choice is white colour shirt and socks with blue or white short.Italy use to have two sets of kits, blue and white, and they combine the colours as it is needed.

Italy & the U.S. Headquarters Nearby

Pretoria - Italy and the United States will stay close during the group phase of World Cup 2010. Both teams chose two hotels in the city near Pretoria Irene as his headquarters.

Reporting Goal, FIFA has approved the request for the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to select the Southdowns College Irene as his headquarters. As the inn, selected Leriba Lodge.

Southdowns has also been the headquarters of Italy during their Confederations Cup followed in 2009.The failure of the Azzurri in the competition did not seem to affect FIGC decision in the election headquarters.

In fact, the U.S. team's first wanted Southdowns College as his headquarters, but the Italians who finally got his wish.

U.S. do not have far to find the headquarters despite Italy incarannya taken. 'Uncle Sam' Team will still be headquartered in Irene, precisely at the Irene Country Lodge Hotel, and will practice at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria.

By choosing Irene near Pretoria, Italy seems not think much about the distance. Because, Gianluigi Buffon et al just do not have agendas play in Pretoria. Three Italian Group F action will take place at Green Point (Cape Town), Mbombela (Nelspruit) and Ellis Park (Johannesburg).

While for the U.S. Team, this option is practically put them in the middle of the fight three Group C. Bob Bradley's squad that care will be played at Royal Bafokeng (Rustenburg), Ellis Park and Loftus Versfield located in Pretoria.***

      Francesco Totti
Francesco Totti's wife Ilary Blasi has backed him to play for Italy at the World Cup.

She is the latest to join a chorus of calls for the Roma man to be picked by coach Marcello Lippi. He has left the door open for Totti, and Blasi said her husband should do the right thing and walk through it.

"I want Francesco to go to South Africa," she told Diva e Donna magazine

"I will be following him there with our children."

Totti has been absent from the Azzurri since 2006 when he called time on his international career. Since then he has often welcomed the idea of a recall.

In an interview with La Repubblica last month Totti said: "I will decide in April. If Marcello Lippi calls me up, if I am fit and if the group wants me, I will go."

South Africa World Cup 2010: Greenpoint Stadium / gmp architekten

More images and architect’s description after the break.
The geography of Cape Town is uniquely dominated by the contrast of the Table Mountain massif and Signal Hill with the gently undulating landscape and, sorrounding it all, the Atlantic Ocean. Greenpoint Stadium is a landmark building in the parkland of Greenpoint Common at the foot of Signal Hill, and blends respectfully with the landscape as a whole.
The outer shell of the stadium has been designed as an abstract, linearly articulated membrane structure. Its unique undulating silhouette – the result of the geometry of the stadium – gives the stadium the image of a sculptural object, enhancing its integration into the existing landscape.
The lightweight membrane structure consists of extensive concave features forming a uniform, flowing façade that follows the undulations. The light-colored glass fiber mesh boosts this effect, its coloration generating depth and vitality. The translucent surface absorbs and reflects the changing atmosphere of the daylight.
Designed for both football and rugby games, the stadium has three tiers with seats for about 68,000 spectators. The angle of inclination means that all the seats have the best possible sighting of the pitch. The interior of the stadium is designed to focus all attention on the pitch, thereby generating an atmosphere of intimacy and excitement.
The roof structure is a combination of a suspended roof with radial truss systems. The undulating roof is covered with laminated safety glass, and on the inside with a diaphanouse membrane skin. The space between the glass covering and the membrane integrates technical elements such as public address system and lighting as well as offering weather protection and a sound-absorbent volume.
For all its respectful understatement, the stadium will become a distinctive feature of the city. It improves the inmediate environment of Greenpoint Common and acts as a stimulus for other positive developments in the adjacent urban structure, the surrounding district and the whole urban environment.
